Is Ghost Ranch worth visiting?
It was a good way to see the terrain and views. The ranch itself is lovely. The rock formations are beyond description. I would recommend visiting the ranch if you have an interest in geology, paleontology (dinosaurs) or Georgia O’Keeffe.
How do I get to Ghost Ranch?
Ghost Ranch is currently open to day visitors from all states. Choose from tours, trail rides or day passes for hiking and museum visits. Note: Visitors are asked to check in at the Ghost Ranch Welcome Center before hitting the trails so the ranch staff can account for hikers in the rugged desert setting. There is a $5 site fee for use of Ghost Ranch’s facilities, but this is not a hiking fee or a requirement for hiking.

Why do they call it Ghost Ranch?
Ghost Ranch got its name from cattle rustlers who hid their stolen goods in the area’s canyons. “El Rancho de los Brujos” — “Ranch of the Witches” — mutated into Ghost Ranch and the turn off to the ranch was marked by an animal skull.
Is Abiquiu worth visiting?
It’s not too strenuous and the view is excellent. There is a small trail access fee and you have to sign in (good idea for safety), but it’s well worth it. Plaza Blanca is also worth visiting, especially if you’re a photographer. Make sure you stop at Bode’s in Abiquiu for great food.
