What is Infrasil?

What is Infrasil?

These 1.0 mm thick, uncoated windows are fabricated from Infrasil®†, a type of optical quartz. Infrasil is a popular alternative to UV fused silica since the two materials have nearly identical mechanical and optical properties. They are also too thin for standard setscrew-based optic mounts.

What is Suprasil?

Suprasil® CG is a high purity synthetic fused silica material manufactured by flame hydrolysis. It combines excellent physical properties with very good optical characteristics and excellent transmission from the deep UV to the near IR.

What is Spectrosil?

Spectrosil is a chlorine and bubble free synthetic fused silica ideal for deep UV optical applications. It features exceptional optical transmission in the deep ultraviolet and visible spectrums with a range from below 180 nm through 2000 nm.

How much does quartz glass cost?

Quartz Countertop Cost By Quality:

Quality Cost Per Square foot
Low-Grade Quartz Countertop It ranges from $30-$50
Middle-Grade Quartz Countertop It ranges from $50-$80
High-Grade Quartz Countertop It ranges from $80-$150

What is quartz glass used for?

Quartz glass is used in the manufacturing of optical devices, lighting systems, refractory materials, and chemical apparatuses.

What is BK7 material?

BK7 is a high quality optical glass that is used whenever the additional benefits of fused silica are not required. Since BK7 performs well in all chemical tests, and no additional or special handling is required, costs of manufacturing are reduced.

How is fused quartz made?

Fused quartz is produced by fusing (melting) high-purity silica sand, which consists of quartz crystals. Type II is produced by fusing quartz crystal powder in a high-temperature flame. Type III is produced by burning SiCl4 in a hydrogen-oxygen flame.

What is the difference between bak4 and bak7?

BAK-4 is a high density glass of better optical quality than BK-7. The difference is the quality of glass and anti-reflective coatings. The design of the prisms can affect the quality of the exit pupil.

Why choose herheraeus Quarzglas 3D materials?

Heraeus Quarzglas has a unique process to provide real 3D materials with outstanding optical properties. We recommend the following materials for their 3D homogeneity (indicated by +, ++, +++). To help with the selection, we indicate additional information. Never the less, feel free to contact our experts.

Why fused quartz is used for mirror substrate?

The low coefficient of thermal expansion of fused quartz makes it a useful material for precision mirror substrates. Fused quartz is produced by fusing (melting) high-purity silica sand, which consists of quartz crystals.

What is the difference between fused quartz and fused quartz glasses?

This differs from all other commercial glasses in which other ingredients are added which change the glasses’ optical and physical properties, such as lowering the melt temperature. Fused quartz, therefore, has high working and melting temperatures, making it less desirable for most common applications.

What is the dispersion of white light?

This implies that white light is spread out in a rainbow according to wavelength. Dispersion is defined as the spreading of white light into its full spectrum of wavelengths. More technically, dispersion occurs whenever the propagation of light depends on wavelength.
