What is the hardness of 5052 aluminum?
Aluminum 5052-H32
| Component | Weight % | |
|---|---|---|
| Hardness, Vickers | 68 | 68 |
| Tensile Strength, Ultimate | 228 MPa | 33000 psi |
| Tensile Strength, Yield | 193 MPa | 28000 psi |
| Elongation at Break | 12% | 12% |
How do you tell a 5052 from a 6061?
To tell a physical difference between both alloys, get two parts formed by 5052 aluminum and 6061 aluminum at 0.03 inch each. Try to bend each alloy sheet at 90 degrees. The part formed by 5052 aluminum will not break when bent at a sharp radius.
Can you machine 5052 aluminum?
5052 is the highest strength alloy of the more common non-heat treatable grades. Fatigue strength is higher than most aluminum alloys. In addition, this grade has particulary good resistance to marine atmosphere and salt water corrosion. It has excellent workability and is used for precision cnc machining.
What is the hardness of Aluminium?
3.1 Micro hardness In this average pure aluminium showed micro hardness value of 25.9HV, Al – 4% SiC showed 36.7HV, Al with 8% SiC reinforcement increased the micro hardness value of 49.3 and 12% SiC addition showed maximum micro hardness of 57.5.

How do you cut aluminum 5052?
You should be able to cut that thickness with a jigsaw, it’s soft but also thick enough it should be no problem. WD40 sprayed on the blade will also help with the softer material.
