How the letters got their order?
The ancient order was a long mnemonic device. Early users strung the letters together to correspond to the words of a mnemonic sentence or storyline. When Alexander the Great’s empire came in contact with Rome later on, the Romans borrowed a few Greek words and adapted their alphabet again in order to write them.

The Phoenicians ran with the idea, developing the world’s first fully formed alphabet. The Greeks started to use an alphabetic system of their own around the 8th century BC, adding vowels and the letter X.

Is Starfall a good curriculum?
Starfall does an excellent job of offering clear and intriguing early literacy lessons. Kids will get positive messages about reading through names of sections on site (such as It’s Fun to Read and I’m Reading). There’s an online store, which sells supplementary materials, but site doesn’t have any ads.
