How long is the Dasa workshop?

The length of the training is at least six clock hours and typically includes at least three clock hours completed in-person (not online). However, the training may be offered entirely online during the time period of the State of Emergency declared by the Governor of New York State for the COVID-19 crisis.

Participants will understand the relationship between harassment, bullying, cyberbullying, microaggression, marginalization, and discrimination on student achievement, attendance and dropout rates. Participants will understand how harassment, bullying, cyber bullying, and discrimination affect student achievement.

The Dignity for All Student Act (DASA) Workshop is a two part, six (6) hour workshop. You may register by completing the attached form and bringing it to our office OR by mailing it to 65 Court Street – 5th Floor (DASA Workshop), Brooklyn, NY 11201 with a $60.00 money order payable to NYCDOE.

Who has to get trained? DASA Workshop training is required for ANYONE applying for any school certification. This includes anyone applying for Guidance, Teacher, Administration, PPS, School Psychologist, etc…
How do I upload my workshops to my Teach account?
Once you click on the Get My Certificate and/or Submit It To Teach button, you will see the screen below. Select Submit My Certificate to TEACH. This will resubmit your certificate to TEACH. Allow up to a week for your workshop to appear on your TEACH account.

Where can I get Dasa training in New York?
The DASA training workshop is only available from a provider approved by the New York State Education Department. Individuals who have not completed the DASA training through a New York State registered educator preparation program must complete the training with one of the providers in the following table.

You do not have to be a current or former student of Mercy College to register for the DASA workshop. Everyone is welcome. The DASA workshop is now offered online only. Each workshop is divided into two 3-hour segments. One part will be offered in a live, online format.
How do I register for aworkshop?
Workshop dates are available when you click on the Click Here to Register button at the bottom of the page. The other part of the workshop is a self-directed module that students complete on their own time.
