Are D1S and D2S interchangeable?
D1 and D3, D2 and D4 bulbs cannot be interchanged unless their ballasts and ignitors are replaced with the corresponding bulbs. You cannot mix components from 2 systems together.
Can I use D2S instead of D2R?
The difference between D2S and D2R is that D2S HID bulbs are designed to be used in a projector headlight application, and a D2R type is made for a reflector application – such as in worklights and some driving lights. You can easily identify them as the D2R has a painted shield onto the glass, whereas the D2S doesn’t.
Can you replace D1S with LED?
To install LED bulbs, you could find a D1 LED to work with D1S or D3S or a D2 LED to work with D2S or D4S. If you have a D1 or a D3 bulb, you can get an LED bulb to match. If you have a D2 or D4 bulb, you can get an LED bulb to fit. The new LED bulbs have the same type of plastic collar to fit either application.

Are 35W and 55W HID bulbs the same?
HID bulbs are designed for 35W, just like all factory-installed OEM HIDs. Running them at 55W of power is just “overdriving” them. There are no HID bulbs specifically designed for 55 watts of power. Will a 55W ballast work with a 35W bulb?
You can use 55w ballasts with standard 35w bulbs, but the life of the bulb will be shortened a bit, and their color will Wash Out a bit.
What is better HID 35W or 55W?

Can I use any D-series bulb in my D2s projector?
All of these bulbs have the quartz envelope and arc positioned in the same place – so any D-series projector can use any D-series bulb by bending/cutting out the indexing tabs. For example, if you buy a AL Gen2 projector from an Audi but want to use aftermarket D2S bulbs + ballasts, just bend down the key tab!
