Are Ikea dishes lead-free?
A lot of Ikea dishware is, in fact, lead-free and we have a few lead-free Ikea dishes in our home. Lead at this level (below 90 ppm in a newly manufactured piece) is also very unlikely to leach or to cause any harm to humans, especially given the Ikea pottery is mass manufactured and high fired.

Are Ikea plates dishwasher safe?
Yes, all IKEA plates are suitable to use in the dishwasher. Despite being made of more sensitive materials, earthenware and bone china plates are both suitable for dishwashers.

Answer: These are NOT completely lead & cadmium free, I just spoke with Corelle headquarters Customer Service. The dishes and mugs DO meet the standards for Calif. The totally white dishes are the purest; anything with colorful trims or designs will have a higher % of lead/cadmium.

How can I tell if my dishes have lead in them?
The only way to determine if certain tableware has lead is to test it. Home lead test kits can tell you if the dishes have leachable lead. These tests are most useful in detecting high levels of lead.
