Are Reading Buses taking cash?
Cash is still king across Reading, but we are proud to be able to offer our customers more ways to pay! We’ve worked hard on making lots of different payment methods available for our customers – especially in the simplyReading area where our buses don’t give change.
Can you pay by card on reading buses?
Contactless – we now accept contactless payments on all our buses. Simply ask for your ticket from the driver and pay by tapping your card on the reader.

How do you use reading buses?
Download the app to your phone and purchase them through the app. You can buy tickets in advance and activate them when you are ready to travel, or buy them and activate them right away. You have 1 year to activate a purchased ticket. Plan your journey and get your tickets on the go with the Reading Buses app.
What is the 60 minute transfer on Reading Buses?
After customer and stakeholder feedback, Reading Buses will be introducing a new 60 minute transfer ticket in the simplyReading area allowing customers to use multiple buses within an hour of buying the ticket. They say that this will be priced at £2.50 for adults and £2 for boost customers.
How does a bus time table work?
To read a bus timetable, look down the left column to find the name of the station you are at. The times that each bus leaves this station are in the same row to the right. Now read downwards from a chosen time to see what time this bus reaches the coming destinations. A bus timetable is written in columns.
What time does the Theale to Reading Bus Stop Start and stop?
They will then be diverted and will resume normal route at the Murdochs bus stop. The 10.02pm and 11.02pm Theale to Reading journeys will start from IKEA (near footbridge to/from Theale) at 10.08 and 11.08pm. We are sorry for the inconvenience caused.
How many people can travel on a simplyreading bus at once?
Valid for up to four people (any combination of adults and children) travelling together – valid all day on all buses within the simplyReading area. The ticket has a ‘peak’ price (Monday to Friday before 6pm) and ‘off-peak’ price (Monday to Friday after 6pm, all day weekends, school & public holidays.)
Why is the school Green bus stop in Reading closed?
School Green Bus Stop. The northbound (towards Reading) School Green bus stop will be out of use from Monday 9 September 2019 for approximately 16 weeks. This is due to the reconstruction of the roundabout. A temporary bus stop is located about 20 yards further along Hollow Lane.
