Can you camp in San Simeon?
The San Simeon Creek Campground offers 115 campsites for tent camping or recreational vehicles. The maximum length for an RV is 35 feet. Each campsite has a fire ring and picnic table. Recreational activities include camping, picnicking, hiking, fishing, surfing, beachcombing, bird watching and whale watching.

A backcountry permit is required for camping anywhere in the Inner Canyon including Bright Angel, Indian Garden, and Cottonwood Campgrounds. There is one building with toilets in the campground located directly in the middle of the row of sites.

Is Hearst Castle temporarily closed?
Hearst Castle is expected to reopen in early 2022. The historic landmark in San Simeon closed on March 15, 2020, due to the pandemic. Now more than a year later, it’s still closed as State Parks tackles emergency repairs to the road that leads to the castle.
