Can you use anti seize on copper?
Copper is a soft metal and can fail as an anti-seize agent under high pressure resulting in metal-on-metal contact and a seized fastener.
Should you put anti seize on header bolts?
If you are reusing exhaust manifold bolts (which we don’t recommend), apply a metal fortified anti-seize to your manifold bolts. If you’ve just removed the broken bolts and ready to complete the repair, chase the threads clean and use fresh OEM bolts for best results.

Copper Grade Anti-Seize is copper in color and is not recommended for applications where copper is prohibited. Like Silver Grade, Copper Anti-Seize protects metal parts against rust, corrosion, galling and seizure at temperatures up to 1800° F.

Permatex® Copper Anti-Seize was designed specifically for use on stainless steel or similar alloys. Is copper slip the same as anti-seize?
Copper Grease has poor lubricating properties. It is in fact an anti-seize compound. A good quality non-mineral grease should be used on moving parts only and never applied to the back face of a Brake Pad or mounting face of a Brake Disc.
When should you not use anti seize?
Do not use anti-seize as a lubricant such as on caliper slide pins or on threads for a bushing press or any mechanical assembly that requires a lubricant. Do not use anti-seize on exposed threads because the compound can attract contaminants that may contribute to thread damage when the fastener is removed.
Should you use anti seize on header bolts with aluminum heads?
If you are running the threads into aluminum, anti-sieze is a wise choice. Use header bolt lock washers and the bolts should never back out. Header bolt lock washers are slightly different compared to standard lock washers. I like the allen head bolts as well for getting in tight places.
Is it OK to put anti-seize on lug nuts?
In reality, yes you can use a little bit of anti seize by putting some on the stud and running the nut down and then back off so it spreads even. Clean off any globs and then torque to spec, not with an impact, unless you have a torq-stick.
How long will Anti-Seize last?
Anti-Seize Special™ has a shelf life of 5 year or more when stored in a closed container. Shelf life may be much longer depending upon storage location and conditions. Store with container tightly sealed in a cool dry place for optimum shelf life.
Is anti-seize necessary?
There is no reason to use more anti-seize than absolutely necessary on the threads you are coating. Additional anti-seize does not offer any more corrosion protection and is simply a waste of product. Too much anti-seize applied to the threads of a bolt.
What is copper never seize?
