Do electrode pads work?
Electrodes — which are also referred to as ‘electrochemical cells’ — simply provide a conduit for positive and negative electrons to travel through, from site A to B in a circuit. The results of these little electrodes is big. Through TENS therapy, electrodes work to provide effective pain relief.
What is the correct placement for electrode pads?
Place two electrodes on either side of the elbow on the back of your arm. Then place one electrode higher than those and on the side of your arm. Finally, place the last electrode below all the others and again, on the side of your arm.
How many times can you use electrode pads?
Use up to three times per day at a maximum. During each therapy, rate your pain before and after the session, 1 (low) to 10 (high) in order to gauge the true reduction of pain.

- Hold electrode pads lightly at the edge when applying or removing.
- Avoid pulling on the electrode wire tail, which might separate it from the pad.
- Make sure the skin in the treatment area is clean, dry and free from skin products before adhering electrodes.

There is no conclusive evidence to prove that the use of the TENS unit can help with erectile dysfunction. Most experts feel that electrodes should not be placed on or near your genitals. TENS treatment is an effective and safe way to treat pelvic floor muscles.
How far apart should Tens pads be?
You want to place the pads close together but not touching. Aim to keep them no more than a few inches apart. We don’t recommend using them on two completely different parts of your body. Also take care not to place your TENS unit pads on bones or joints, like your knee or elbow.
Can you do too much TENS therapy?
TENS is safe, so you can use it as much as you like, although it’s good practice to take regular 10-minute breaks every hour or so. Some people use TENS for more than five hours a day.
