Do you have to wear a Gracie Barra GI?
All students, Instructors, Professors, and visitors must wear the official Gracie Barra uniform. It is mandatory to wear the official Gracie Barra black rash guard or Gracie Barra training shirt underneath the kimono. It is mandatory to have underwear underneath the gi pants.

How long does it take to get a Gracie Jiu Jitsu blue belt?
Generally speaking it takes approximately 8-12 months to earn the Gracie Combatives belt, another 6-12 months for blue belt, and then 3-4 years for each belt after blue. Altogether, it will take anywhere from 8-14 years for you to reach black belt.
What is the difference between Gracie Barra and Gracie Academy?
Although both started from the same family there are some huge differences. Gracie Barra was founded by Carlos Gracie. It tends to focus on competition and the style rewards strength and agility. The Gracie Academy is from the Helio Gracie lineage.
Can a blue belt wear a black gi?
In some training facilities, it may not be allowed for you to train with a black gi, so check with your school before getting a black gi. The acceptable gi colors for most training facilities are white, blue, or black, irrespective of what color the belt is that you have achieved.
Does the color of your gi matter in BJJ?
The short answer to this question: jiu jitsu gi color means absolutely nothing. While BJJ gi belt colors carry some serious significance – primarily in alerting you to the level of shark you’re swimming with on the mat – jiu jitsu gi colors don’t carry any special significance.
