How do the playoffs work in League 1?
The first match of the semi-finals is played at the side with the lower league position’s home ground while the second match takes place at the higher-ranking side’s ground. The clubs that win the semi-finals then meet at Wembley Stadium, a neutral venue, for a one-off match referred to as the “play-off final”.

Do away goals count double in League 1 playoffs?
Away goals do not count double in the EFL play-offs. The Football League did use the rule but chose to abolish it in 1999. This decision was made after an initiative by then-Ipswich Town chairman David Sheepshanks.
Do away goals count in League One playoffs?
If the score at the end of extra time is still level then the tie is decided by penalty kicks. Away goals do not count in the play-off semi final matches. The final must be decided on the day, so extra time and penalties may be carried out if the scores are level.
