What happen when you put a pencil into a glass of water?
Because the light can’t travel as quickly in the water as it does in the air, the light bends around the pencil, causing it to look bent in the water. Basically, the light refraction gives the pencil a slight magnifying effect, which makes the angle appear bigger than it actually is, causing the pencil to look crooked.
Are there any light science experiments for kids?
Here’s a fun collection of light science for kids! You’ll find light science experiments about both light refraction and light reflection in this science roundup. Follow our Science for Kids Pinterest board!
What can you do with light energy for kids?
This post includes dozens of light energy experiments for kids to keep you and your kids busy. Kids will LOVE to make their own DIY spectroscope! The best part of this science activity is that it can be done with a few simple materials and explore the spectrum of different light sources.
How to teach phosphorescence to kids?
Kids will learn about phosphorescence. For kids, you can just tell them that phosphorescence light is different from fluorescent light. Fluorescent light needs black night to be on, while phosphorescent light doesn’t need the black light on. It just need be exposed to light before giving out its own light, and it last longer.
How can I teach light reflection to kids?
I love this light box experiment. It is yet another way to show kids light reflection. You can’t skip fireflies when you are learning about light. If you can find places to catch fireflies, go catch them and put them in a bottle.
