How do you dilute omnipaque 300?
Individual E.g. Dilute Omnipaque 300 or 350 mg I/mL with tap water 1:50, to ~ 6 mg I/mL. *Dosage may vary depending on individual anatomy and/or disease state.

OMNIPAQUE 300 contains 647 mg of iohexol equivalent to 300 mg of organic iodine per mL; and OMNIPAQUE 350 contains 755 mg of iohexol equivalent to 350 mg of organic iodine per mL.

One 50ml bottle of Omnipaque 240 will be mixed with two 16 oz….of water in two containers (this contrast is virtually tasteless but added flavors are available upon patient request).
- Pour 25ml of Omnipaque into each container.

The usual volume ranges from 50 mL to 300 mL of iohexol at a concentration of 100 mgI/mL and 50 mL to 600 mL of iohexol at a concentration of 50 mgI/mL. Dilutions of iohexol should be prepared just prior to use and any unused portion discarded after the procedure.

Approximately 90% or more of the injected dose is excreted within the first 24 hours, with the peak urine concentrations occurring in the first hour after administration. Plasma and urine iohexol levels indicate that the iohexol body clearance is due primarily to renal clearance.

As with all iodinated contrast agents, lower doses may have less risk. The efficacy of ULTRAVIST injection below doses recommended has not been established. Administer ULTRAVIST at or close to body temperature. Do not mix or inject ULTRAVIST injection in intravenous administration lines containing other drugs or total nutritional admixtures.
Is Ultravist contraindicated for intrathecal?
Ultravist ® is contraindicated for intrathecal use. Inadvertent intrathecal administration may cause death, convulsions, cerebral hemorrhage, coma, paralysis, arachnoiditis, acute renal failure, cardiac arrest, seizures, rhabdomyolysis, hyperthermia, and brain edema.
