How do you draw a simple skull?

Step-by-step instructions to draw a skull.

Start with the basic shapes and lines. Draw a wide oval to represent the top portion of the skull.

Draw your eye sockets and nasal cavity. Draw in your eye sockets and the cavern where the nose would be.

Define the cheekbones and jawline. Add more defined lines to the outer shape of the skull.

Add more detail to the top of the skull. Add some more contour lines to the upper part of the skull.

Outline the teeth. Draw in teeth,and your skull will start to look eerily real.

Add shading and final touches. With the teeth in place,it’s time to add shading and more definition to your most important lines.

First,sketch two round shapes similar to circles. These will be the eye sockets of skull.

Now,draw an oblong shape for the “nose,” or nasal bone. The bottom part of the nose should be slightly larger than the upper portion.

Develop the cheek bones that jut out from below the eye sockets. Curve them in to form the beginnings of some teeth.

Next,draw the teeth. They are basically rectangular shapes with some deviation from rectangles. Make sure not all the teeth have the same height.

Complete the lower teeth; use the instructions of Step 4 for reference. Additionally,frame the eye sockets with lines,or “wrinkles” of the bone.

These are the DETAILS. Go ahead and add various lines to the skull,like cracks in the forehead,or “frontal bone” and stress lines on the jaw.

Optional: add a snake for a frightening or cryptic effect! There will be no instructions for this step; this is merely a suggestion for your drawing.
