Can you play Super 8 film on a 8mm projector?
A standard/regular/double 8mm projector will not play super 8mm movies. A super 8 projector will not play standard/double/regular 8mm movie films. In fact if you mix them up there is a good chance that your precious films will be destroyed.

Is Super 8 better than 8mm?
Super 8 was an upgrade to the standard 8mm film which offered a sharper picture. This sharper picture can be attributed to the much larger frame size. Lots of times, people will have the first of their films shot in regular 8mm, and then over time switching over to the superior Super 8 format.
