We did a day visit to Caprock canyon it is way good drive out in the middle of the panhandle. Not much around just small towns. Stop at the entrance to pay to get in and get a map of the park. You pretty much drive into the park one road in go to the end turn around and come out. You drive slow look at the sites. You can get out as well and walk.
