Why does my 2240 have a low velocity?
Well, at typical room temperature, the hammer strike in a 2240 is too strong, so it’s wasting CO2 for a start, particularly with a stock barrel…. With a 14″ barrel, which is capable of using the CO2 more efficiently, the velocity is still on a plateau until the preload is reduced by 1/8″, where it is just starting to drop….
What are the parts of a Crosman propeller?
Valve, transfer port, steel breach, extended probe, power adjuster or heavier hammer spring. You can order one from Crosmans custom shop and it comes with a trigger weight adjustment and travel stop but you have to replace or modify the probe and valve. Well you don’t have to but you probably will Lol. It is more cost effective to order one.

Shot the 7 1/2″, installed the 14″, then cut the 14″ to 10″. On one of the other 2240’s I have, I cut a barrel to 6″. Velocity was 399.8 fps.But different gun with probably different hammer spring.

My 2250 with a 14.5″ bbl shoot jsb 14.3 @ 550 fps and will shoot a ragged hole at 30 yds in carbine form from a solid rest. Mods. Cleaned up barrel (both ends) also cleaned up tp and valve outlet.
