Trispoke wheels (and composite wheels in general) have a lower drag coefficient, and are therefore faster in a straight line. They perform somewhat like a full disc wheel (rear wheel on a Time Trial bike). Remember, aerodynamic doesn’t necessarily mean “faster”.
