Is Altes beer still made?
Now Altes — the brew that once was an official sponsor of the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions and beloved by fans of cheap beer — is making a comeback. Stief, along with Carl Erickson and Pat Kruse, exclusively relaunched the beer in 2016 in a partnership with Traffic Jam and Snug.

Who made Goebel beer?
It was started by August Goebel. It later expanded to produce Goebel Private Stock 22 in Muskegon, Michigan and Oakland, California. From 1950 to 1959, it outsold all other beers in Michigan.
When did they stop making Altes beer?

Founded more than 100 years ago, the brand stopped brewing in Detroit in 1974, at the height — or depths, really — of beer consolidation that gobbled up most of the other old Detroit beer brands. By the 1990s, it was discontinued. But Stief, Erickson, and Kruse were determined to bring back their beloved Altes.

Altes beer is a Detroit original. Born at the Tivoli Brewery at the corner of Mack and Hurlbut on Detroit’s East Side, Altes was known as “the beer that bewitches” in 1910. European trained brew masters modeled the brand after the crisp refreshing lagers of their homeland, made for the hardworking Detroit boom town.
Is Goebel beer still available?
The brewery resumed production in 1934, and quickly regained its standing as one of Detroit’s leading source of suds. In 1950, with eyes on reaching the shelves on the West Coast, Goebel absorbed the Golden West Brewery in Oakland, Calif. In 1955, the Detroit facility underwent a multimillion-dollar modernization.
Can you still buy Goebel beer?
Eventually, Pabst Brewing Company acquired Stroh’s and their other brands (including Goebel), and discontinued the Goebel brand at the end of 2005.
Does Stroh’s beer still exist?
The company was taken over and broken up in 2000, but some of its brands continued to be made by the new owners. The Stroh’s brand is currently owned and marketed by Pabst Brewing Company, except in Canada where the Stroh brands are owned by Sleeman Breweries….Stroh Brewery Company.

Can you still get Blatz beer?
It produced Blatz Beer from 1851 until 1959, when the label was sold to Pabst Brewing Company. Blatz beer is currently produced by the Miller Brewing Company of Milwaukee, under contract for Pabst Brewing Company….Valentin Blatz Brewing Company.
