Is ISEF 2021 Virtual?
Yes. The 2021 Affiliation Agreement is written to recognize that the Regeneron ISEF 2021 will be virtual and that an affiliated fair may hold a fair virtually, in a hybrid fashion or in-person.
Is ISEF 2022 Virtual?
A: Finalists who are unable to travel to Regeneron ISEF 2022 will be judged virtually through video conferencing. Virtual judging will take place on a different day than in-person judging. The exact timing and format of virtual judging is still being determined.

We are pleased to announce that the 2022 Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair will take place in Atlanta, Georgia, between May 8 and 13. Regeneron ISEF will be held as a hybrid event with a judged competition and distribution of Grand and Special awards for in-person and virtual finalists.
How hard is ISEF?

How do I get into Regeneron ISEF?
Students in grades 9-12 or equivalent must compete in a Regeneron ISEF affiliated science fair and win the right to attend Regeneron ISEF. Each affiliated fair may send a pre-determined number of projects to ISEF (as calculated by participation and high school population) to compete in 21 different categories.
What happens if you win ISEF?
There are over 1,000 ISEF judges each year, and each has a PhD and/or at least six years of relevant experience. Each project is judged at least four times during the competition. The winner of the Regeneron ISEF receives a $75,000 award, and the next top two winners each receive $50,000.
What does the winner of ISEF get?
1st Award: $5,000 cash award. 2nd Award: $2,000 cash award. 3rd Award: $1,000 cash award. 4th Award: $500 cash award.

These forms constitute written documentation of what will occur, or in some cases, has already occurred, in a research project.
What are the display & safety requirements for ISEF projects?
All projects must adhere to the Display & Safety requirements of the affiliated fair (s) in which they compete to qualify for participation in ISEF. Affiliated fairs may have additional restrictions or requirements. Knowledge of these requirements is the responsibility of the Finalist, Adult Sponsor, and Fair Director.
What kind of abstract should I submit to ISEF?
The abstract must be the official International Science and Engineering Fair Abstract and embossed/ stamped by the ISEF Scientific Review Committee. No other format or version of your approved Abstract & Certification will be allowed for any purpose at ISEF.
