The FREE Southend Seafront Fireworks from are back this Autumn! After missing a season last year due to Covid-19 restrictions, this year’s display promises to be bigger and better! Our friends at Southend BID are proposing a 10 week extravaganza starting from Saturday 2 October to Saturday 4 December! That’s right!

Southend Bid has warned those attending the event tomorrow that it will begin at 7pm. All previous displays, which have been taking place each Saturday throughout the autumn, have begun at 7.30pm. Next weekend’s display will also take place at the new time of 7pm.

Why is Southend Pier so long?
Well the reason the pier is so long isn’t because they needed more room. It’s because they needed more visitors. Back in the 1800s, Southend-on-Sea faced a problem. They wanted to capitalise on trade from London holidaymakers who would leave the capital for day trips on boats and ferries on the Thames.
