Is the exit HESI hard?
much harder than the NCLEX Exam! In fact, some schools only allow students that passed the HESI Exit to take the NCLEX, and they receive an artificially inflated NCLEX pass rate by doing so. This in turn will attract new students to the school. And some schools have even taken this practice to the next level.
Can you cheat on the HESI?
The Office of Testing Services will NOT tolerate cheating by any test taker, including testers taking the exam through virtual online proctoring.
What is a good HESI exit score?
850 or higher
Most Nursing Schools require students to take and pass the HESI exit exam prior to graduation. The passing score required to graduate varies from program to program, but generally speaking a score of 850 or higher is considered a good score.
How many times can you take the HESI exit exam?
Some schools break down the year into two admission periods, and HESI test-takers are only allowed two attempts per admission period. Other schools limit the number of times that any person can take the HESI test to two or three attempts total.
How many questions are on the exit HESI?
150 questions
The student will be presented with a minimum of 75 questions (of which 15 are pilot questions which will not count towards their score). The HESI RN Exit Exam, however, contains 150 questions, of which 10 are pilot items. The HESI LPN Exit exam can be given as either a 150 question exam or a 75 question exam.

What is an 850 score on HESI?
Faculty have set a score of 850 as considered a success. Benchmark: Desired performance of Partially met = 85-89% pass rate (>850), Fully met = 90- 100% pass rate (>850) on the HESI-RN by the cohort of students. This is in line with our program performance indicator of 90% on the NCLEX-RN national board exam.
What happens if you don’t pass your exit exam?
Students first took the test in the beginning of their sophomore year. If they do not pass one or both of the two test sections, then they may retake the section or sections that they have not yet passed. Up to 2 test (or 8) opportunities are available to students before the end of their senior year.
