What is a Sigfox base station?
Base stations are local Sigfox antennas, which receive messages from emitting devices and forward them to the Sigfox Cloud. They are deployed in the field by our local Sigfox Operators.
What is a Sigfox network?
Sigfox is a French global network operator founded in 2010 that builds wireless networks to connect low-power objects such as electricity meters and smartwatches, which need to be continuously on and emitting small amounts of data.
What are the components of Sigfox network?
The SigFox network consists of these elements: Objects (devices) Base stations (gateways) Cloud (internet)
What is Sigfox range?
The density of the cells in the SigFox network is based on an average range of about 30-50km in rural areas and in urban areas where there are usually more obstructions and noise is greater the range may be reduced to between 3 and 10km.
Is SigFox IP based?
Thanks to its exclusive IP Core Network, Acklio’s software solutions enable fully secure interoperability between Devices, Applications, Connectivity and Technology while relying on standard protocols.
Is Sigfox unlicensed?
2.1. Sigfox uses unlicensed ISM bands, for example, 868 MHz in Europe, 915 MHz in North America, and 433 MHz in Asia.
Which is better SigFox or LoRa?
So if you need command-and-control functionality—for, say, electric grid monitoring—LoRa is your best option. With Sigfox, you could use bidirectional command-and-control functionality, but to work appropriately, network density would need to be higher (due to the asymmetric link).
What is the Sigfox micro base-station?
The Sigfox Micro basestation has been announced during the last Sigfox Connect event in Berlin. The base-station allow to extend the Sigfox public network, at low price, for your private location. This post is detailing my experience with the micro base-station and the field test I’ve made on an industrial site.
How do I access the Sigfox service map?
To access it, please click on the Service map link in the left-hand menu. This service map allows viewing several levels of details for areas covered by the Sigfox network. Before using the service map, please select the country you wish to check coverage on in the top right corner drop-down list.
What is the Sigfox SDR dongle?
The Sigfox SDR dongle is the hardware platform on which to run the Sigfox Device Test Suite, a comprehensive device developer software toolkit: The Network Emulator: Developed to test end-to-end and bidirectional data transport services between your device and your application
How do I determine the product class of my Sigfox device?
Please contact your local Sigfox Operator. This is the quality of emission of your device. It is defined through the Sigfox-Ready certification process. The product class is determined depending on the device transmission performance (signal strength, radiation pattern etc).
