What is Cystometrography?
[ sĭs′tō-mĭ-trŏg′rə-fē ] n. Measurement of bladder function, as by a cystometer.
Is a Cystometric test painful?
While you might feel the catheter being inserted into the urethra, the test does not hurt. A catheter is a small and flexible tube. During a cystometric test, a manometer can measure the pressure at the point of leakage if the bladder contracts when the bladder is being filled for the cystometrogram.
How do you perform a Cystometry?
During Your Cystometry A flexible, thin plastic catheter is then slowly inserted through the urethra (the tube that carries urine out of the bladder) and into your bladder. Measurements will then be taken of how much, if any, urine remains in your bladder and bladder pressure.
How is CMG done?
Performed in the comfort of our office, a CMG is a simple procedure that only takes about 20 minutes. Your doctor will insert a tiny catheter into your bladder. Then, your bladder will be filled with a sterile solution that will make it possible to evaluate your bladder function.
How long does a UDS procedure take?
Most UDS tests take about 30 minutes. Testing may involve emptying the bladder while a medical professional listens, and this can be hard for some people. Other testing involves having a full bladder, which can be an uncomfortable situation. The catheter could cause mild soreness following the test.
Why is Uroflowmetry done?
It’s a diagnostic test to assess how well the urinary tract functions. Your doctor may suggest uroflowmetry if you have trouble urinating, or have a slow stream. By measuring the average and top rates of urine flow, this test can show an obstruction in your urinary tract such as an enlarged prostate.
What is Colposuspension procedure?
Colposuspension is an operation to treat stress incontinence (leakage of urine when you exercise, sneeze or strain). We put stitches inside the pelvis either through an incision (cut) across your lower abdomen (tummy) or laparoscopically (keyhole surgery) through a series of small abdominal incisions.

Cystometry testing usually takes 30 to 60 minutes. But it may take slightly longer if any of the special tests are done.
What foods irritate the bladder?
Certain foods and beverages might irritate your bladder, including:
- Coffee, tea and carbonated drinks, even without caffeine.
- Alcohol.
- Certain acidic fruits — oranges, grapefruits, lemons and limes — and fruit juices.
- Spicy foods.
- Tomato-based products.
- Carbonated drinks.
- Chocolate.
