What is inside of a Tile?

The Tile tracker uses a small piezoelectric speaker to transmitters its alarm. This is the speaker is connected to the circuit board through a two spring loaded contact. The speaker is attached to the plastic enclosure of the tracker via adhesive tape. The speaker produces a 90-decibel alert.

How does Tile work without batteries?

The Tile Mate uses a CR1632 model while the Tile Pro uses a CR2032. (We should note here that Tile still sells the Slim, which doesn’t have a replaceable battery. This means that every time the app detects that your tracker is running low, it’ll automatically send you a new battery without you having to do anything.

Can you recharge a Tile?

You don’t need to charge Tile or replace the battery. Simply after 1 year, we can help you recycle your old Tiles and replace them with the latest model.

What does it mean when your Tile beeps?

This is your Tile letting you know that it’s searching for a connection, but it can’t find your device yet. Your Tile will beep 5 times like a “chirp” when you quickly double-press the button on your Tile if: Your Tile is out of range of your device. Bluetooth is not enabled.

How does Tile app work?

When you add a Tile, the app “discovers” the Bluetooth-enabled Tile and establishes a connection. Your Tile then uses the location services of your mobile device to communicate location information to the app.

Can Tile be used to track a person?

You cannot use a Tile Mate to track a person. The Tile Mate has a short range in comparison to how far a person could travel even if it is by foot. By the time a person reached 200 to 400 feet of distance, you would not be able to locate them as they’d be out of Tile’s bluetooth range.

Do Tile stickers really work?

While the installation of the tile stickers was definitely less intimidating than installing legit, grout-able subway tiles, the process still required some basic skill and patience. As long as you didn’t actually touch the tiles, the effect was pretty convincing. For months it seemed to do well.

Can you remove Tile stickers?

You can remove your Tile from an item without damaging them. If you wish to remove a Tile Sticker, Mate, or Pro, hold the Tile on either side and pull it firmly toward you.
