What is PEEK Victrex?
VICTREX PEEK material is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic typically used as a replacement for machined metals in a wide variety of high-performance end-use applications. VICTREX PEEK excels in demanding applications where durability is key, such as bearings, valve seats and back up rings.
What does Victrex do?
Victrex is an innovative world leader in high performance materials, serving a diverse range of markets. Every day, millions of people rely on products or applications which contain our polymers, from smartphones, aeroplanes and cars to oil & gas platforms and medical devices.
What is PEEK made of?
WHAT IS PEEK MATERIAL? PEEK material (polyetheretherketone) is a high-performance semi-crystalline engineering thermoplastic with outstanding harsh chemical resistance, very low moisture uptake, good fire performance, excellent mechanical strength across a broad temperature range, and good dimensional stability.
What do Victrex make?
The company is a manufacturer of high-performance polyaryletherketones, including VICTREX PEEK polymer, VICTREX pipes and PEEK-OPTIMA. Its business is organized as two business units: Victrex Polymer Solutions (VPS) – that focuses on transport, industrial, oil and gas and the electronics markets.
Can PEEK be used on resin?
PEEK Properties PEEK resin holds up well against high temperatures and long-term liquid submersion and is very durable in harsh environments. PEEK plastic makes an excellent reinforcement material, providing great tensile strength with low weight.
What is PEEK used for?
PEEK is used to fabricate items for demanding applications, including bearings, piston parts, pumps, high-performance liquid chromatography columns, compressor plate valves, and electrical cable insulation.
Is PEEK a polyester?
PEEK belongs to the PAEK polymer family (polyaryletherketones polymer family) that includes PEK, PEEK, PEEKK, PEKK, PEKEKK and more. Polyester (PL) along with nylon (PA) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) are among well-known thermoplastic polymers.
Does PEEK contain fluorine?
PEEK contains no fluorine, despite being frequently grouped with fluoropolymers like PFA or PTFE. Figure 1. PEEK is synthesized most immediately from difluorobenzophenone and disodium hydroquinone. Note that PEEK does not contain fluorine and therefore is not a fluoropolymer.
Is PEEK absorbable?
PEEK mechanical properties closely match the mechanical properties of bone: tensile yield strength, shear strength and modulus. 1 These properties are not significantly degraded by gamma irradiation, steam sterilization (water environments), or oxidation (aka, aging). PEEK is biocompatible and highly biostable.
