What is SvxLink?
SvxLink is a project that develops software targeting the ham radio community. It started out as an EchoLink application for Linux back in 2003 but have now evolved to be something much more advanced.
How does EchoLink work?
EchoLink allows licensed Amateur Radio stations to connect to one another over the Internet. You can use EchoLink to connect your station (or your computer) over the Internet to other amateurs using the same software, and carry on a voice QSO. You can access EchoLink either with a radio or a computer.
Is EchoLink ham radio?
EchoLink is a computer-based Amateur Radio system distributed free of charge that allows radio amateurs to communicate with other amateur radio operators using Voice over IP (VoIP) technology on the Internet for at least part of the path between them.

Can I just listen on EchoLink?
No listen-only access: No “SWL” (listen-only) access is permitted. EchoLink is a two-way system by design, and there is no mechanism to validate listen-only stations.

What is SvxLink Server?

The SvxLink Server is a general purpose voice services system, which when connected to a transceiver, can act as both an advanced repeater system and can also operate on a simplex channel.

CARD_SAMPLE_RATE This configuration variable determines the sampling rate used for audio input/output. SvxLink always work with a sampling rate of 16kHz internally but there still are som benefits from using a higher sampling rate.
