What is Zinsser Gardz used for?
GARDZ prevents bubbles that form when damaged drywall is skim coated with spackling or joint compound. It penetrates and seals damaged facing paper, restoring it to a sound surface for repairs, making it suitable for painting or wallcovering.
Is Gardz and kilz the same?
Kilz product is thin but I believe it has a little more workability than Gardz. And no odors isn’t as strong either. Also price wise the Klear is about ten dollars cheaper a gallon. The Gardz seems to seal soft compounds to a harder finish but that could just be me.

Use a stabilising solution or peel stop as peel stop can be used outside and gardz can’t.

Just pva or acrylic primer will most always small peel when you put tape on it. So the guardz will do the best job sealing. Any high quality paint will hide in two coats over what you have there, so just do that.

With GARDZ, you prime/seal with this, then paint with Latex paint. My advise, if you are using oil based primer and paint, stick to that, dont worry about GARDZ, if you plan on using Latex paint, then use this, and stay away from the Oil Based primer.
