What planes are at Fairford?
The RAF Fairford base has a single runway, 3,046m long. The asphalt-paved runway is the longest runway in the UK. The base can accommodate Convair B-36 Peacemaker, B-52 Stratofortress, B-47 Stratojet, KC-135 Stratotanker, U-2 Spy plane, B-1B Lancer and B-2 Spirit stealth bomber.

From 1973 to 1983 it was held intermittently at RAF Greenham Common, initially under the title of the Royal Air Forces Association, South Eastern Area, Air Tattoo before moving to RAF Fairford in 1985.

What is RAF Fairford based on?

What will happen to RAF Mildenhall?
On 8 January 2015, the United States Department of Defense announced that operations at RAF Mildenhall would end and be relocated to Germany (Spangdahlem Air Base) and elsewhere within the UK. After a period of uncertainty it was confirmed in July 2020 that the relocation of operations would no longer take place.
