What size ThunderShirt should I get?
Thundershirts offers two suggested dimensions to ensure a good, snug fit for your dog. A LARGE should accommodate a chest size between 25″ up to 30″ and weight between 41-64 lbs. If your boxer’s chest is larger than 30″ around, then the X-LARGE might be a better fit.
Should I size up or down for ThunderShirt?
They should be a little snug but keep in mind that they do run a little smaller. I would say they do not run a whole size smaller though. see less they do run a bit small.
How should a thunder jacket fit on a dog?
Place the ThunderShirt on your dog’s back and wrap the Short Flap under the torso. Wrap the Long Flap under the torso and secure with fasteners onto the Short Flap. Make a comfortable, snug fit. Wrap the Top Flap down onto the Long Flap and secure with fasteners.
How do you measure a dog for a ThunderShirt?
For the best fit, we recommend measuring your pet’s chest girth and comparing with the sizing chart. To measure chest girth, measure your pet’s chest around the widest part.
Can you put a ThunderShirt on too tight?
Place the Thundershirt gently on your dogs back and pull the Short Flap under the torso. Wrap the Chest Straps around the front of the dog and secure with fasteners- be sure this is not too tight, but snug.
Can dog wear ThunderShirt overnight?
If need be, the dog can wear the his or her thundershirt all day long. It’s not bad for your pet. However, it is advise to remove the thundershirt for about 10 minutes every 1 to 2 hours in order to avoid irritation. When properly sized, the dog should be comfortable over a long period of time.
When should I put ThunderShirt on my dog?
It is recommended that the Thundershirt be put on at least 15-30 minutes prior to an event which causes your dog to be anxious. This helps keep your dog calm before the event and prevents your dog from getting into a severely anxious state which causes your dog, and you, a lot of unnecessary stress.
