When do you use Sensipar?
- Sensipar® is taken once a day in one of the 5 recommended daily doses. Sensipar® tablets should be taken whole.
- Take Sensipar® with food or shortly after a meal. Consider taking Sensipar® at the same time, with the same meal, every day.
- Take Sensipar® at least 12 hours before your PTH blood test.
How fast does Sensipar work?
In phase I-II studies, the maximum effect of cinacalcet was achieved within 2–6 hours after administration, with a terminal half-life of 30–40 hours (30, 31).
Why is Sensipar given to dialysis patients?
Cinacalcet is indicated for the treatment of hypercalcemia in patients with parathyroid carcinoma or for secondary hyperparathyroidism in patients with chronic kidney disease who require dialysis (11).

Does Sensipar lower blood pressure?
Low blood pressure: Blood pressure may occasionally drop when taking cinacalcet. Be alert for any lightheadedness, dizziness, or a faster-than-normal heart rate.
