Can you skydive by yourself?
YOU CAN SKYDIVE WITH YOUR OWN PARACHUTE (BUT ACCOMPANIED BY TWO PROFESSIONALS) – CALLED AFF SKYDIVING. If you don’t want to, you don’t have to jump with a tandem instructor for your first skydive. With that first solo jump behind you, you just might get inspired to complete your skydiving certification.
How many skydives do you need to go solo?

Let’s look at what the United States Parachute Association lists as its requirements for solo skydiving: Complete all requirements laid out by the USPA A License Proficiency Card. Complete a minimum of 25 jumps. Make five skydives with one or more other people (tandem skydives)
How much does skydiving cost Solo?
Solo skydive: $80-120 or as low as $25 if you have your own equipment and only need the ride up (remember, you have to have been trained already and be USPA certified). Accelerated Free Fall (AFF) Training package: Typically about $1,500 and includes 7-10 jumps (along with training, rides up, and equipment).
Do you need a license to solo skydive?
After completing the required number of skydives in your training progression, you will be cleared for self-supervision and can skydive completely solo! Though, skydiving by yourself is just the beginning. Once you receive your skydiving license, you will be cleared to jump with other licensed jumpers.
How long does it take to solo skydive?
At Skydive California, we recommend one tandem jump prior to going solo, so you can get a sense of what’s to come, then it’s off to solo! In our Accelerated Freefall program (AFF), you will begin with an extensive 4-6 hour class and begin your solo ‘category’ jumps.
What happens if you pass out while skydiving alone?
If you happen to pass out while skydiving, you are physically attached to your instructor. S/he will take the lead and will do all they can to help get you both back safely to the ground.
How safe is solo skydiving?
That’s 0.0075 fatalities per 1,000 jumps—among the lowest rate in the sport’s history! Tandem skydiving has an even better safety record, with 0.003 student fatalities per 1,000 tandem jumps over the past decade.
How many skydives can you do in a day?
More commonly, the average weekend warrior makes 4-6 skydives on a relaxed jump day, packing for him or herself; while competitive teams on a training day will pay a packer and make 10-16 jumps.
Can you reuse parachutes?
Yes, they are not disposable one-time devices. Also a modern parachute is upwards of $2000, for the main chute and again for the reserve chute. Depending on how well you maintain your parachute, mostly making sure to keep it out of the sun as much as possible, it can last for about 600–1000 jumps.
