Range & Habitat: The native Ohio Haircap Moss (Polytrichastrum ohioense) is occasional in the Shawnee Hills of southern Illinois, and uncommon elsewhere within the state (see Distribution Map). This moss is endemic primarily to eastern United States and Ontario.
